In contrast to earlier years, during which the Turkish language was considered “the language of the enemy” and its learning was limited to covering the country’s security needs, today the knowledge of Turkish becomes more useful than ever for many reasons. It is a language that we have been speaking for centuries, through the use of many words that come from it and were incorporated into the Greek language through the centuries-long coexistence of the two peoples.
The Turkish language belongs to the group of agglutinative languages. This means that we add endings – suffixes to the end of each word. It consists of 29 letters, whose pronunciation does not present any particular difficulty, since each one is pronounced in one and only one way.
With a logical grammatical structure and a phonetic system that facilitates pronunciation, Turkish is more accessible than many people imagine, while learning it offers a real competitive advantage that stands out in any résumé. Due to its differences from the classic European languages, learning it is a challenge and stimulates the student’s interest, while at the same time it feels very familiar, something that makes the consolidation of the Turkish language easier and renders Turkish lessons accessible.
