General Information

The DELE Diplomas in Spanish as a Foreign Language are the only internationally recognized official qualifications awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

What is the value and recognition of DELE?

Possessing the unique diploma with international recognition and indefinite duration gives you a useful advantage on an academic, professional and personal level. These diplomas are recognized by official Spanish and international bodies. Many universities require the B2 diploma for postgraduate studies.

Diploma A1 and A1 Escolar

There are different levels, depending on your knowledge

It certifies language proficiency corresponding to the Basic Knowledge level (A1), the first of six, on the scale of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The examination consists of the following tests:

Reading comprehension:

45 minutes

Speaking comprehension:

20 minutes

Written production and interaction:

25 minutes

Oral production and interaction:

15 minutes

There are different levels, depending on your knowledge

It certifies language proficiency corresponding to the Basic Knowledge (A2) level, the second of six on the scale of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Diploma A2/B1 (Escolar)

This diploma certifies the holder's ability to understand and use frequently used everyday phrases and expressions related to areas of experience that are particularly important to you (basic information about yourself and your family, shopping, places of interest, hobbies, etc.). (A2)

It certifies the language ability required to cope satisfactorily in situations that require a basic level of knowledge. (B1)

The examination consists of the following tests:

Reading comprehension:

50 minutes

Speaking comprehension:

30 minutes

Written production and communication:

25 minutes

Speaking production and communication:

15 minutes

This diploma certifies the linguistic ability required to be able to express oneself spontaneously and fluently without obvious effort to find the appropriate expression.

Diploma C1

It consists of the following tests:

Reading comprehension and language use:

90 minutes

Understanding spoken and written language and using language:

50 minutes

Mixed proficiency: Oral and written comprehension, written production and communication:

80 minutes

Mixed Skill: Written Comprehension and Spoken Production and Communication:

20 minutes / 20 minutes preparation

The examination consists of the following tests:

This diploma certifies the language ability required to respond to situations that require advanced use of the language and knowledge of Spanish culture.

The DELE C2 exam consists of the following tests:

Language Use, Reading Comprehension and Listening Comprehension

105 minutes

Mixed proficiency: Oral and written comprehension, written production and communication

150 minutes

Mixed skill: Text comprehension and oral production and communication

20 minutes / 30 minutes preparation
